2The meeting of the NiSIG zone 3 leaders held on the 1st of May 2017 in Kiel was attended by the National president Moses Kolade Ogun, president of the NiSIG-Hamburg and NiSIG zone 3 coordinator Chinekwu Owoh, president of the NiSIG-Bremen Efe Abegha, president of the NiSIG-Kiel Okechukwu Emenekwe and members of the NiSIG-Kiel executive team Dedayo Sosanya and Uju Okonkwo. The meeting started by 12:21hrs.

It was agreed in the meeting that there is an urgent need to rebrand NiSIG so as to facilitate the creation of stronger ties between the organization and the German Government as well as the Nigerian Government back home. The issue of database for members was discussed and it was agreed that an electronic method should be used for this purpose. The membership due was also deliberated upon. Students are expected to pay 10 Euros while the doctoral candidates and those working are expected to pay a minimum of 30 Euros. A plan was made for the upcoming NiSIG-zone 3 event. The meeting ended by 14:05hrs.

The meeting of the NiSIG-Kiel started by 14:10hrs shortly after the meeting of the NiSIG-zone 3 leaders. The opening prayer was made by Dedayo Sosanya. The chapter president Okechukwu Emenekwe welcomed everybody present and this was followed by the introduction of the new excos. The National president was invited to intimate the members about NiSIG and the key points he mentioned were as follows:

  • NiSIG official registration in Hannover in 2013
  • The national, zonal and state/chapter structure of NiSIG

(Kiel belongs to Zone 3)

  • Annual election
  • Annual Summit on the 13th – 14 October 2017 in Hamburg

After the presention a few questions were asked ranging from affiliation of NiSIG with the embassy, participation in the Nigerian Community in Germany (NCG) and Nigerians in Diaspora Organization – Germany Chapter (NiDO-Germany). In Moses’s response he informed the members that the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin and the Consulate General in Frankfurt are officially aware of NiSIG and its activities. As regards the NCG and NIDO he encouraged members to participate.

The new students in Kiel introduced themselves. Okechukwu talked about the upcoming event of NiSIG-Kiel planned for 28th of October 2017. After the closing speech from Okechukwu, motions were moved for the adjournment of the meeting, Afiz Oyerinde made the closing prayer and the meeting ended by 15:10hrs
